Wind Ensemble March Concert Schedule
Tuesday, 3/25 (dress rehearsal)  dress rehearsal:  8:00 am-11:30 am  Please have all costumes and props.	Wednesday, 3/26 (concert day) (snow date Thursday, 3/26)  school day concert: 10:05-11:05  call time- 9:00 am  evening concert: 7:00 pm call time: 6:00 pm  doors open for audience: 6:45 pm
Please wear: black bottoms, blue music shirts plus song specific costume pieces for dress rehearsal and the concerts.

Beginner Band Demonstration

 Thank you to these musical leaders for their wonderful performance for the upcoming Beginner Band students.  

 24-25 Performing Arts Shirt Order

      It’s time for WCS musicians to order their WCS Performing Arts shirts! All  students in Band and/or Chorus will wear this shirt on concert days,  to field trips and other organized events.    

       Who should order a shirt? 

• 4th Grade Chorus members

• 5th-8th grade Band and/or Chorus students that are new to the program. 

• Returning 5th-8th grade Band and/or Chorus members that have lost or outgrown their shirt from last year.  

How do I order a shirt? 

       Order your shirt here.  Shirts need to be ordered and paid for by Friday, October 25, 2024. The cost is $13 and financial support is available.

What if I already have a shirt? 

• 

  I found my shirt, tried it on and know it will still fit on concert day.

If you can check that box, you do not need to order a new shirt. 

Can I order a shirt if I am not in Band or Chorus? 

 Yes! If you wish to support our musicians, you may order a shirt.

District Music Festival Auditions!

  District Music Festival Band

What is it? How do I get in? 

The district music festival band is a Chittenden County honor band that consists of the best 7th and 8th grade musicians that attend public schools, private schools or home school. You must  audition to be in this group. 

What do I play at the audition? 

Woodwind and brass players:  assigned major scales, chromatic scale,  sight reading. Percussionists:  rudiments and a prepared solo.  

We will work on this material in lessons in September and October so all students will experience the process of preparing for an audition.                                          

  

    Audition: 

Auditions will be recorded by Mrs. Thompson during lessons, the week of 11/4,  and shared via Google Drive with music teachers participating in our festival. All musicians of alike instruments will be assessed by the same teacher to assure everyone a fair audition assessment.  These videos will only be viewed by the adjudicating teacher and will be deleted after the concert.

What is the time commitment?

Participating in this “festival” is a HUGE honor with a SMALL time commitment.  The schedule:

Individual practice for auditions: 

September through the audition date. (at lessons and at home at your discretion) 

If accepted:

Individual practice your band music: (3-4 pieces) in school and at home at  your discretion

Festival Band rehearsal: Friday, 1/31 location: TBA

Concert: Saturday, 2/1  at 2pm  location: TBA
