Ensemble Descriptions

Instrumental Music
                                                         
The instrumental program is taught by Kim Thompson. Any student in grades 4 - 8 interested in playing a band instrument is welcome to participate.
All students attend a weekly small group lesson during the school day.  The lesson schedule is easy to follow, flexible and designed to maximize student attendance in their other classes.

Wildcat Cub Band is a beginner level band open to all interested students as young as 4th grade. Students attend one small group lesson per week and are encouraged to practice regularly at home. Students may choose from flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone  and percussion. There is limited space in the percussion lesson. Blue Rising Pride Band    is for (mostly 5th grade) musicians who have successfully completed Wildcat Cub Band. We meet two times per week during the band and chorus block. We perform in December and May.  

Gold Rising Pride Band   is for (mostly 6th grade) musicians who have successfully completed Blue Rising Pride Band. We meet three times per week during the band and chorus block. We perform in December and May.  

Wildcat Wind Ensemble   is mostly seventh and eighth graders, and we meet Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM.   We  perform in  December, March and May. Please subscribe to the Wind Ensemble REMIND to stay informed. 

 Roaring Jazz Cats is a supplement available to all Wildcat Wind Ensemble members. Gold Rising Pride Band members are welcomed by invitation. We meet after school on Mondays. We perform in December and in May at school, at the CVSD Jazz Fest in May, and at the WCS 8th grade graduation. Please subscribe to the Roaring Jazz Cats REMIND to stay informed.
