Beginner Band for 4th grade is starting!

            These student leaders introduced the band program and their instruments to our 4th graders.

  It’s time for 5th-8th grade musicians to order their WCS Performing Arts shirts! All 5th-8th grade performing arts (band and chorus) students will need to wear this shirt on concert days and to field trips and other organized events. 

        All students new to the program and older students that need to replace

their shirt should place an order and send your payment directly to your musician's music teacher. Shirts need to be ordered and paid for by Friday, October 28, 2022. The cost is  $10 and financial support may be requested. 

  We are using the same shirts as we have in the past. Returning musiciansshould check and be sure they have their shirt and that it willfit them for the remainder of the year as this is the only order we are placing.  

5th-8th Grade Beginner Band Sign Ups

All interested 5th-8th graders were invited to attend a Beginner Band information meeting on Tuesday, 9/13.

Students are encouraged to consider:

1) Do I want to play?

2) What instrument do I want to play?

3) Wil I make the time to practice so I can have success?

Students may choose: 

flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, or percussion

*Percussion Notes: *In order to provide a quality experience to all musicians, there is a limit of 8 percussion spaces. If interest exceeds space, places in this class will be chosen by lottery. Please note that omission of a second choice will not increase your chances of acquiring a space in percussion. Thank you for your understanding.

Grade 5 and up sign ups begin: Tuesday, 9/13.

5th Grade Beginner Band (Beginner 6th-8th graders are also welcome to start this year	Tuesday and Friday 1:00-1:40 Smaller group lessons will rotate times as they did in the past.	Tuesday, 9/13 Instrument Demo and information meeting at 1:00 Tuesday, 9/20 sign up deadline
6th Grade Band	Monday, Thursday 1:00-1:40 Wednesday 12:25-12:55 for those not in a club Smaller group lessons will rotate times as they did in the past.	Thursday, 9/1  No instruments needed this day
7th and 8th Grade Band	TBA- some mornings at 7:30  Smaller group lessons will rotate times as they did in the past.	Wednesday, 9/7 at 7:30 am We will clarify the schedule at this first meeting.  No instruments needed this day.
